Installing SOLR

We have been following a great blog creating-web-application-from-scratch, it is guiding us through a fedora, solr installation at the moment with lots more to come. The blog post is at http://oxfordrepo.blogspot.com/2008/02/creating-web-application-from-scratch.html

We have picked up on a small thing… In step 9 Installing solr there is a snippet of xml code supplied that needs to go into your tomcat/webapps/solr/WEB-INF/web.xml file. See below

<security-constraint>
<web-resource-collection>
<web-resource-name>
SolrUpdate
</web-resource-name>
<url-pattern>/update/*</url-pattern>
</web-resource-collection>
<auth-constraint>
<role-name>solradmin</role-name>
</auth-constraint>
</security-constraint>
<!– Define the Login Configuration for this Application –>
<login-config>
<auth-method>BASIC
<realm-name>Auth needed
</login-config>

When you are adding this code (or cutting and pasting) make sure that you close the <auth-method> and the <realm-name> tags
